The Shuey Family, etc

The Shuey Family, etc
Hello All,

I made it back safely from my trip to Nashville. Kind of interesting, never having been. Went on a tour of the Ryman Auditorium - intersting history - old home of the Grand O'l Opry. Went to see the Country Music Hall of Fame, but didn't have time to do it justice. By the way I was kicking around by myself because Carmen was there for a conference. One evening we went to the B.B.King blues club and saw Clarence Dobbins (I think). All in all I had a good time, but it's good to be home again. I missed my brown dog. I'll include some pictures if I can figure out how.
Take care (each moment)
Dad

NAME THAT SONG!!

Ok, blast from the past for us sisters anyways. Remember when we used to play name that song and all those silly games? Well, time to refresh your skills! You should all know this song, let's see who guesses first!

"If you smile at me I will understand, 'cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language."

Pictures..

Ok, I tried to add these pictures to my last post, but they never showed up even though it said they have been added. Who knows. It worked this time so whatever! Anyways, this is Sydney from her Brownie ceremony last night. You can kind of see her earrings. Can you see how many teeth she's missing? And her other top front one is loose. It's crazy! Then there's one of Ethan getting a helpers award because he comes to all her meetings and all the girls love him. He thought it was really cool to get something too. And the last one is me and Adrianna.

Hello all!

Ok Amber, I gotta tell you, it was so funny when I told Sydney about Autumn getting her ears pierced too. I wish you could have seen the look on her face! First she was all surprised and then she got this almost suspicious look to her and said, "Ok, what is up with me and my cousins? First Summer loses the same tooth as me the day after I do, and now me and Autumn both get our ears pierced at the same time! What day did she do hers?" It was hilarious. You'll have to send a picture for Sydney to see, she'd like that. I'll try to get one of her to put up as well. That's cool about getting those cds too. I know how it is when you're craving listening to something like that. Especially something like the Daddies, they always take me back to Spokane. Sorry to hear you've been sick, hope you're feeling better!

So things are going good here. Let's see what's going on.... Well we have conferences at school this week, so there's no school Thursday or Friday, that'll be nice. Except I think it's supposed to rain all week. It was gorgeous yesterday, I think it got into the lower 60's. And there was sunshine all day! Got out and mowed the lawn for the first time this year. In some places the grass was probably close to 8 inches tall! The other half of course is just moss. But it sure was nice to smell the fresh cut grass again. Makes it feel like spring.

Sydney had an awards ceremony at Brownies last night. We usually try to have one about every 3 months, but we've been so busy this year we haven't had one since the rededication we had at the beginning of the year. So we had 6 months worth of badges and achievements, it was pretty long! Plus our leader Lisa is going to be needing to take some time out from our troop because her son and daughter are doing baseball, and games happen to fall on Monday nights which is when we meet. So with her schedule being so hectic, she asked me to come on as a co-leader (we already have one co-leader, Adrianna) to help with some of the stuff she won't be able to do for a while. So she had this cute little dedication ceremony for me, it was nice. So that will be keeping me busier for a bit. At least cookie sales are over, they're a pain in the ass. I mean, I know it great and we earned over $1500 for our troop, but I hate doing it! So I'm glad it's done.

Well, I think that's about all the big stuff going on. Today I'm just hanging out at home with Ethan and Sam (his friend who I watch on Tuesdays) and trying to get the house cleaned up and the laundry done. I'm hoping to get all I need to get done this morning so I can work on my painting this afternoon. We'll see how that goes! Hope all is well with you all. Talk to you soon!

Hello... Hello... Is this thing on ??

Ok, I get it!!

Hey all, I guess I could probably put a little info on here as well. I've been sick on and off and just haven't felt like doing much. When I do have the energy, I have to clean and catch up on all I put off. Not really an excuse, just an explanation. I'm glad you all had a good visit, I wish we could have been there. One of these days we all need to get together before our kids are all grown up!!
Fayth, I think it's exciting about Sydney getting her ears pierced. Tell her that Autumn also just got hers pierced. She and Emerson went and had it done together!! That way he helps her remember to clean and turn them and she helps him remember too. I also wanted to tell you that I got some cds today that I was pretty excited about! I ordered 2 Cherry Poppin Daddies from ebay on Friday and got them today! They are the ones that I used to have, but got stolen and never replaced. Well, I've been feeling the need to listen to them so I got them. Both for only $16 including shipping! I was pretty excited.
Well, I'm going to go, I"ll try to post again soon. Love to all!

Hello! Is anybody out there?

Ok, so if this is supposed to be a way for everyone to keep in touch with each other and tell everyone what's going on in our lives, doesn't it work better if we actually post messages every now and again. I know we are all busy, and I'm one of the worst for not email people, but this blog started so well, and we all seem to have given up on it lately.

So here's my input. Things are pretty much back to normal now after my week of visitors. The kids are back to regularly trying to kill each other. It's officially spring and now the rain has started. My house is a mess and I have loads of laundry to put away!

But on the bright side, Liam had a football match this morning and they won 4-0. Liam scored a great goal and they all played really well. Their team is 1st in their league, and I don't think they've actually lost a game all season. Not bad. The sun was even shining for most of the morning, before the rain came, and I think that put them all in a really energetic mood.

Shannon took part in a "hair fashion show" last night, put on by our local hairdressing salon, where a friend of ours works. She got to have her hair and make-up done and got to get dressed up and walk up and down the catwalk in front of a couple hundred people. She loved it, really enjoyed herself, and looked beautiful of course! If I can get hold of some pictures I will share them (I had no film in my camera, so I couldn't take any, but my friend Kate has some). The whole event was a fund-raiser for Cancer Research UK, so it was a worthy cause, and one rather close to our hearts at the moment. For those of you I haven't spoken to, we found out last week that Jason's grandmother has lung cancer, and it's pretty much untreatable. She's doing fairly well at the moment, the doctors are trying to get her onto a pain management program to make things a bit more comfortable for her as she's been in quite a bit of pain for several months now. So we're trying to be optimistic, but Jason is very upset about the whole thing, as I'm sure you can imagine. He has always been very close to his grandparents, even closer than his parents, so he's taking it pretty hard. We have decided not to tell Shannon and Liam too many details until it's a bit more serious. They know she's very ill and that's probably enough for them to cope with for now.

So anyway, that's me up to date I guess. I will try and practice what I preach and post again soon. I love you all, Heather

Happy Spring!!

Spring has finally arrived. According to the calendar anyways. It was nice and sunny yesterday, but back to the rain today. What can you do....

So we made it back home, survived a couple 10 hour plane trips. I think we figured out that our return trip was 17 hours total travel time from Heather's house to mine. Whew... long day! Needless to say, we were all in bed early that first night home! The kids were asleep by 6pm, but that was about 2am to our bodies and we'd been up since 5am. And I was out by 7! And then they got about 14 hours of good sleep. It worked out good for Monday back at school though, I didn't have to drag anyone out of bed, they were up early! We're getting back to normal now though. But for all the jetlag and travel woes, it was so worth it. We had such a good time. We packed so much into that one week, we were on the go the whole time. The kids really enjoyed spending time with their cousins, it was such a good experience for them. And they thought it was neat to get to see where we used to live and go to school. We drove by our old house in Hartford, it looks so different now! It's all privately owned and everything. Weird. It still makes me think of the taxi drivers and how they used to say "41 Maryland". Remember? Ha, ha, ha... So we got our fill of cookies and crisps and all the good british food. Even brought lots back with us. I think Sydney's favorite part of the trip though was getting to get her ears pierced. I had kind of planned on surprising her with it while we were there, but in an act of desperation on our last leg of the trip (from Amsterdam to London) when everyone was so tired and they were falling to pieces, I told her that if she'd let Ethan sit by the window that I'd make it up to her. So of course she wants to know how I'd make it up to her and the only thing I could think of at the time was getting her ears pierced. So there it was. And after all that, wouldn't you know, they both were asleep within 2 minutes and nobody really cared who sat by the window anymore! Isn't that the way it is though? Well, my brain is going to mush, so I better get going. I'll post some pictures when I get the chance. Talk to you all soon.

Morning!

Good morning everyone. I am just waking up, was up way too late last night. But it was fun though. Got together with some of my friends and had a few drinks and played some games. We try to get together about once a month, but we haven't done anything in ages, so it was fun. But like I said, I was up way too late so now I'm still trying to wake up. We have our Girl Scout cookie booth sale today where we set up in front of a store to sell cookies. We signed up for the one this afternoon outside of Lowe's. Hopefully we'll do good and sell lots. What I'm really hoping for is nice weather. So far it looks sunny and calm so maybe it'll be like yesterday. It was deceiving the other day because it looked really nice, but the wind was freezing. So we'll see. Before that though, we have to try to deliver the rest of her pre-order cookies to some of our neighbors. Hopefully they'll be home so I can get these cookies out of my house! (Can you tell cookies has been our life this week?) Then I'm off in search of sweat pants for the kids, well mostly Ethan. I never thought it'd be that hard to find! He only has one pair that actually fit him anymore and that pair has some kind of hard glue stuck of the leg of them. At least I think it's glue, that's the only thing I can think it could be. And I've tried and can't get it off. Anyways, I've looked almost everywhere and nobody has sweat pants! Bathing suits I can find, sweat pants I can't! It's ridiculous! So today we're going to go to Walmart, haven't checked there yet. Ethan just needs something comfortable to wear on the plane. Only 5 more days!! It's funny, it almost doesn't seem real that we're going. Heather and I have been talking about doing this for years, I always said I'd come for our birthdays when she turned 30 and that was always so far off. And now it's only 5 days! Unbelievable. And it'll be good to go back to England too, that's always been kind of home for me because of the years we spent there. So I'm sure I'll have tons of pictures to share with everyone when we get back. But, guess I should get off of here now. Need to have a shower before anything else! Talk to you all soon. Hope you all have a good weekend!

Wednesday, March 01, 2006

Hi all! I just got home from work about half an hour ago and thought I'd sit and check my emails, the bank balance etc for a few minutes before I start thinking about walking and feeding the dogs, feeding the kids, doing the laundry, all the fun stuff I do when my work day is allegedly finished!

At least my "going to work" week is finished now, I only work Mon-Wed. But I've got a lot of housework to catch up on, plus a bit of spring cleaning to do before our guests arrive in 9 days!

For those of you who don't know, Fayth and the kids are coming to visit us next week and so is Mom. I can't wait, I'm so excited! It's been almost 6 years since I've seen Fayth - I've never seen Ethan. I don't think Jason has seen Fayth since she came to visit when Sydney was about 18mths old, so a year before I last saw her. And we haven't seen Mom in a year and a half. So we're all really looking forward to it, although it is going to be very hectic with 4 extra people in the house. I don't think we could've fit everyone at the old house, but we have quite a bit more room here, so should be ok.

We are going to let the kids have a couple of days off school while they are here, so that they can spend some time with their cousins. We are going to take the train up to York for the day, plus some shopping in Peterborough and Cambridge. But we will make sure we save some time for sitting around talking and catching up, of course! We are also planning a night out at the local pub, since it will be mine and Fayth's birthdays while they are here - and I'm turning the big 3-0, so have to celebrate!

Ok, the kids are finding things to argue about now, so I need to go play referee. I will try and post something on here to let everyone know how the visit is going when they are here.

Ciao for now!

It's March!

Good morning all. Its the first of March and I've been thinking about spring. Of course, it won't do me much good, we're supposed to get 3 to 6 inches tomorrow and it's snowing right now. March is definitely coming in like a lion around here. Hopefully you will all have better weather!
I think we've finally got all the furniture into the correct rooms upstairs. I've bought some paint and we need to get that taken care of this weekend (hopefully!) I'm looking forward to that, I love to paint the walls.
That's about the bulk of my thoughts for almost 6 in the am. I need more coffee and some time to wake up more. I just felt like I've been neglecting you all and wanted to say hi.
So HI! I'll talk to you later
Love you all!
